T O P I C R E V I E WTomWith preparations bringing the launch date closer for Discovery and STS-114, I was wondering if there was an FRF (Flight Readiness Firing) scheduled?I remember NASA did in fact fire the 3 main engines on Discovery about 6 weeks prior to the STS-26 (Return To Flight) mission.[This message has been edited by Tom (edited January 09, 2005).]star51LTom, I think your answer is here, along with much more information: http://www.cbsnews.com/htdocs/space_place/framesource_current.html BenThere will be no FRF, but there will be a full countdown dress rehearsal for the launch team including fueling of the external tank (currently scheduled for March 30).NASA has stated that it is to test the foams endurance to fueling, but more recently said it's not for that so much as it is to get the launch team ready.-------------------Benhttp://www.geocities.com/ovcolumbia/Rob JoynerAnyone know why the scheduled launch date has been changed to Saturday, May 14? I read it was May 12 before, I believe on SpaceFacts, which was not surprising as most shuttle launches occur on Thursdays.BenMay 12 is just the processing target date for the workers to allow a two day buffer. The actual available window opens May 14 with a launch time of about 4:11pm.november25Hi Ben,Your previous mesage about meeting up near the [CAPE] was too late- we had already lefted for Florida. we did have a great time at KSC- meeting friends, so next time we go- I will let you know, and arrange to meet up, thank you for your kindness. Also maybe Daytona Beach-who knows.regards from Brenda.Happy New yearnovember25Hi Rob Joyner,Ted and myself really hada great time visiting KSC- saw Story, mentioned your name, and the nephews--Quote from the guy himself- [I DO REMEMBER ROB AND THE TWO LADS] also I mentioned several other peoples names, and sure enough-this guy certainly like to remember people,we had a lovely chat. Hope you are well, hope to see you oneday, all the best, will let you know what our schedule is---Regards from Brenda, and Ted,just got back into the swing of things-after jet-lagOV-105Anyone know if they are going to land at KSC or Edwards AFB? I know I had a chance to go to a Mode V class and didn't get to go. Not that I want to put the to use.BenLanding is to be at KSC. KSC takes it over the smallest amount of land and people coming from the station, it appears. It will cross central America/Mexico and then Florida. EAFB would be California only, but I guess it's more of a danger.
